About Norwegian P.E.N.
Norwegian PEN is the Norwegian division of International PEN founded in 1922.  Like several European and North-American centers, Norwegian PEN works primarily with freedom of expression-issues, mostly internationally.  Norwegian PEN is activ in International PENs Writers in Prison Committee and the IFEX (International Freedom of Expression exchange) network.

If you hold membership in an organization for literary or non-fiction writers or translators, playwrights, publishers, journalists or booksellers, you should qualify for membership in Norwegian PEN.

The Ossietzky Prize
International PEN has established 15th November as the international Writers in Prison Day.  This is an annual event focusing on the perils facing writers, publishers, editors and journalists using their freedom of expression.  Freedom of Expression, as stated in article 19 of the UN Declaration of Human Rights, is a right given to everyone.
